Welcome to the SFS intec Tutorial. The following demonstration will take you through the correct installation of the SFS intec BS-4.8 fastener which is designed specifically for the Sika Trocal roof system.
This new generation of SFS intec fastener is designed to be installed quickly and efficiently using the TI-18 tooling to fix the Sika Plate through the insulation to the metal deck, on which the Sika membrane is bonded.
The fasteners are designed with a thermal break to prevent heat loss through the Sika Trocal membrane.
Simply put the ISO-TAK tube into the Sika plate as demonstrated. The SFS intec fastener is then inserted into the ISO-TAK tube.
To install into the roof structure, drive the tube and fastener straight through the insulation into the substrate below.
Then apply the drive bar onto the fastener and drive through into the metal deck until fixed and the Trocal washer clamps the materials together.
For precision fixing and maximum seal it is important to ensure you have a depth locator fixed and set to the correct depth on the tooling to prevent the fastener from stripping in the substrate.
Finally put the SFS intec plug into the top of the tube to complete the fixing and give an air and weather tight seal. This will also prevent the adhesive - used to fix the membrane to the Sika plate - from going into the tube.
Once all fasteners are fixed into the structure, complete the roof up by applying the sealant to the Sika plates and laying the membrane.
