Welcome to the SFS intec Tutorial. The following demonstration will talk you through the correct installation of the SFS intec composite panel fasteners and hopefully qualify any questions you may have.

When specifying for a composite panel roof, ensure you are using austenitic stainless steel fasteners that have been designed to withstand all the conditions faced by that specific roof design.

The self-drilling SFS intec fastener has been purposely designed for fixing composite panels.

It is designed with a new fused drill tip, which drills and clamps correctly every time, irrespective of the application build up, the new fused drill point drills in 30% quicker than the traditional bladed version.

Underneath the fastener head is a 40 shore EPDM washer and free spin zone to ensure perfect installation and seal. The larger sheet support thread immediately under the fastener head is designed to engage with the top sheet of the panel when installed. This is so there is no dimpling of the outer skin of the composite panel, and should someone walk over the panel, water will not ingress past the washer.

In this particular demonstration, we are using a composite panel fastener with a moulded nylon head which matches the colour of the sheet.

Place the fastener into the drive socket of the drill like this. Before drilling ensure you have attached a depth locator because if you overdrive the fastener, the panel sheet will be dimpled and the seal may then not be airtight.

Position the fastener correctly and drive through to the panel.

Once you have reached the limit of the depth locator, stop drilling. As you can see the washer is head is flat with sheet.

If you overdrive the fixing, the larger threads immediately under the head of the fastener will ensure the top sheet is still gripped, unlike other specifications of fastener which would strip the thread and allow water ingress of the building.

Thank you for watching the SFS intec Tutorial on how to install composite panel fasteners. We hope you found this demonstration useful and should you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact our technical team on 0113 2085 578 or why not view other tutorials from the series.
