SFS intec launches solar offering

SFS intec has recently launched a new range of solar specific bracket and post solutions to meet contractors growing demand for a fast and simple fix of photovoltaic (PV) panels.

Whilst the reduction to the Feed-In Tariff (FIT) rates appear to be leaving some sectors within the industry in dismay, SFS intec has seen a continued demand for solar technology and has developed three bespoke, easy to install fastening systems.

Colin Yeates, Sales and Marketing Director at SFS intec, said: "The changes due to be implemented by the Government in April will inevitably cause many to re-evaluate the use of solar technology. But on closer inspection, the changes to the tariffs are not a linear 50% reduction across the board, indeed rates for larger installations were reduced far less.

"Meanwhile Building Regulations are becoming stricter and whilst reduced emissions are a key driver, within the commercial and retail sector, solar panel installations can still provide businesses with an economic option for efficient use and saving of energy.

"It is essential however, that the solutions used are simple and suitable for the job in order to deliver the best cost result."

SFS intec's new range of photovoltaic (PV) fastening solutions includes the SOL-R which fastens onto metal profiled and composite panel roofs, the SOL-F used for flat roof installation and the AceClamp, an attachment solution for standing seam metal roofs.

The SOL-R offers ease and speed of transportation, handling and fixing and can reduce installation time by up to two thirds when compared with other "stair bolt" alternatives. Fixed to the profiled roof with a high performance sealant, there is no need for pre-drilling. The post is easily adjustable in both height and rake conditions allowing optimum positioning of the solar panels.

Equally, the SOL-F system is installed into a pre-cored support location through the insulation layer. It is then fixed with purpose designed fasteners that eliminate any possibility of over driving before the waterproofing membrane is applied. The membrane is securely clamped around the post offering 100% water tightness and structural security, with no additional loading of the roof.

The aluminium AceClamp comes in two designs, the Mechanical Lock model which clamps around aluminium standing seams and the Snaplock model which locks onto panels with a seam dimension of <.500 inch. Both are quick and simple to install, locking into place without piercing the roof panel. The clamp is securely tightened to ensure that it will not loosen from vibration.
