Is the performance of all fasteners the same?
In simple terms a fastener is used to hold two items together. So doesn’t this mean that the performance of all fasteners is the same?
No, they may look similar but there are a host of design features on our fasteners that are not available on others.
Our fasteners are, in many cases, developed in close co-operation with the roof or wall system manufacturer so as to be an exact match for the fixing requirement. Importers of 'off the shelf' fasteners can never have this close working relationship with the system producers. Their offering will at best be a poor copy of the real thing and in some cases completely unsuitable for the application.
Also, from a material point of view stainless steel will outlast plated carbon steel many times over. Never use plated carbon steel fasteners for fixing aluminium components because the two metals are incompatible and the fixing can fail. Some special applications, for example swimming pools, require purpose made fasteners to resist the aggressive atmosphere that even standard stainless steel fasteners cannot tolerate.
