What is the cost of a failed butyl & air test?

The butyl & air test measures the airtightness performance of a building. But why is it important and what is the cost of failing this test?

The cost of failure can be huge. For example, if the side laps seals have failed on a metal roof, the whole thing may have to be stripped and refitted. For a new build, a failed air test means at the very least a re-test following a program of leak sealing. For a test later in the life of the building, say when changing owner, it could mean a big warranty claim and an expensive repair.
