The simple way is to choose a product manufactured by a leading company and supported by a meaningful warranty. And always read the small print!
You also need to ensure that you comply with any terms and conditions that are required as neglecting them could invalidate the warranty in the event of a claim. If the subcontractor is supplying the goods, obtain and check the warranty as above. But always ask a few key questions: Who is responsible for meeting the terms? Is the warranty assignable?
