Has your sub-contractor selected the right fasteners for the job?

It’s been established that the fasteners on a building project contribute to only a small amount of the total project cost, but can have serious consequences in the event of a failure. So how do you know if your sub-contractor is using the right fasteners for the job?

Essentially, the specification of the correct warranted austenitic stainless steel fasteners would ensure long-term durability and compliance. Using alternative products increases the risk of storm damage, corrosion and premature failure, leading to claims and remedial works.

The only way to be sure that the correct items have been used is to keep to the specification, check the installers' delivery paperwork and inspect as the work proceeds. If there isn't a specification, ask to see the installers' wind load calculations and data sheets covering the items being used. Has your installer thought about wind load? Are the proposals suitable? Are there sufficient fasteners per m² to resist the wind load?

We have specially designed fasteners to do a specific job for a specific application to ensure you don’t need to worry about these questions. Our series of podcasts show the main applications our fasteners are used for and how easy installation is. You can view them by clicking on the link to the left. We also have a mobile i-Van unit that can visit your offices to discuss the specific detail of the fasteners impact on the building. Register for the i-Van to visit you by clicking the link to the left.
