Can you be sure your warranty is worth the paper it’s written on?

Product manufacturers and importers from the Far East may offer a warranty with their brought-in products, which means you should be covered. But are the warranties you have worth the paper they’re written on?

Firstly, make sure you read the small print, so look for the terms and conditions.

Secondly, you need to ask a few questions. If there's a problem, does the remedy offered meet your expectations? What about costs involved in putting things right if you need to claim? Is the warranty issued by a reputable company? Has the installer used the product you want and fitted it correctly? Warranties are void if the goods are not installed in accordance with the suppliers' instructions. Are the warranty terms and conditions reasonable and practical? Who will be responsible for observing them once the building has been handed over and you've left site?

Many warranties also require inspections at long intervals. Who will carry them out? Where will the inspection report be kept?

We offer a 25 year warranty on our butyl A+ pink strip sealant, when used with our stainless steel range, which is the only sealant you can buy with a meaningful 25 year warranty. You can read about our warranty by clicking on the link on the left and also find out about our pink strip sealant by viewing the brochure, link also on the left.
